Plumber 'Heat' Tops Sunday Times List
Plumbing and heating engineers Heat from Belfast has come top of the Sunday Times list of best 100 mid-size companies to work for. The plumbers and heating engineers that design, install and maintain domestic central heating systems and boilers in social housing in the Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland and England has invested heavily in ensuring its staff is well looked after. This approach has won the plumbing and heating company many awards and the latest accolade is that it now won the official prize as the best mid-size company to work for in the UK.
Managers at the plumbing and heating company go out of their way to motivate the plumbers and other staff and act as role models. All plumbers and heating engineers are encouraged to take decisions and the culture of asking permission is non existent, which is reflected across the board in boiler installation, central heating service and boiler replacement jobs. Many plumbers are investing in further plumbing NVQ training under the umbrella of the company. There is a culture of constant education and improvement.
Boiler installation plumbers commented that working conditions at the company are brilliant, with innovative remuneration and incentives schemes in place to ensure that the plumbers and heating engineers have a real upside in the company’s success.
With such high level of employee satisfaction, the staff turnover among the 250 strong staff of plumbers and heating engineers, is very low (at around 4%), with over 40% of the plumbers and other employees being with the company for five or more years.
The plumbing and heating company takes health and safety very seriously achieving a remarkable 93% positive score (coming in at number 3 in the Sunday Times list in this category).
The plumbers are particularly proud of the company’s support to the community. Multitasked plumbers and heating engineers are supporting the community through refurbishing a respite centre for charity among many other good causes.
