Plumbing Merchant on Acquisition TrailWolseley, the world’s largest plumbing and heating merchant and distributor has invested £33million in strategic acquisitions over the first few months of this year. Wolseley, better known for its trade names such as Plumb Centre and Parts Centre, is the world’s largest supplier of plumbing and construction parts, catering for plumbers and builders in many countries around the world. In March this year, the company has completed the acquisition of plumbing and heating distributor Gama Myjava, which operates from branches in Sovakia and the Czech Republic. In addition the company bought Surrey based passive fire protection distributor PFC Corofil Firetops and its subsediaries. The holding company has also acquired San Francisco based plumbing and heating distributor CB Group Inc. reading as JC Plumbing Supply, Washington door installer Precision Doors & Hardware as well Florida Based Cabinet distributor Mastercraft Cabinets, which operates from Naples in Italy. With around 79,000 people working in around 5,000 branches in 27 countries, Wolseley is the world's largest specialist trade distributor of plumbing and heating products to professional plumbers and a leading supplier of building materials in North America, the UK and Continental Europe. Group revenues for the year ended 31 July 2007 were approximately £16 billion. Most plumbers in the UK are well familiar with its Plumb Centre branches spread around the country. With over 550 branches of plumb centre, the company has a strong presence throughout the UK.
