Energy Efficiency Assessors Are Go

The Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE) has launched a scheme for energy assessors. The Scheme has been accredited by the government’s department for Communities and Local Government.  The certification is one of the first available for energy assessors.

The energy assessors scheme follows the work of the institution over last year to generate a register of low carbon consultants, offering help on high efficiency heating, renewable energy (including solar thermal systems and the like) and other technologies.

The register contains over 700 low carbon consultants and the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE) will target them to offer a top up training which is required to become a low carbon energy assessors.

Those enrolling will be trained and subsequently accredited to produce Display Energy Certificates (DEC) and Energy Performance Certificates (EPC) and will undertake regular CPD to ensure ongoing high quality of service.

The certification by the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE) will provide accreditation for EPCs for non-domestic buildings, DECs for non-domestic publicly accessed buildings, EPC for domestic premises, and air conditioning assessments for complex systems.

Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE) is committed to providing members and the industry as a while with the knowledge and understanding to reduce carbon emissions in buildings.
